Smaller portion sizes thanks to Slimpod

BLOGGER Erin Ek Rush is noticing remarkable differences in her smaller portion sizes and her relationship with food as she enjoys her ย Slimpod programme.ย โ€œOne of the first things I noticed about the Slimpod was that my portion size shrunk instantlyย and effortlessly,โ€ she says.ย โ€œI remember thinking to myself, ‘maybe this is what ‘naturally’ slim people feel like all of the timeโ€™.โ€ Erin, who was born in the United States but now lives in West Yorkshire where she writes the Yorkshire Tots blog, started as a 12/14 and is now a 10/12 and happy!

This is her story, which Iโ€™m sure will inspire many of you, especially if you dream of smaller portion sizes.

โ€œAfterย I had my second baby in December of 2012 I slowly and steadily lostย 9 kilos but then my weight stalled – for months and then a few more months.ย  I remember thinking to myself, โ€˜my body would be pretty comfortable staying here.โ€™

โ€œThe problem was that ‘here’ was almost 10ย and a half stone and I am only 5 feet tall.ย  I was in size 12/14 jeans and my requirement for tops was that they hid my tummy.

โ€œAlthough I would generally consider myself a healthy eater, I love to eat and have always had to ‘watch my weight.’ย  I had also picked up some bad habits since becoming a mum including:

โ€œMore of a Sweet Toothย – as a stay at home mum I found that there were so many more opportunities for biscuits, chocolate buttons and general treats throughout the day.

โ€œMore Grab and Goย Mealsย –ย eating on the run led to unintentionally overeating and grabbing things I didn’t even like (cold fish sticks!) – nothing worse than caloriesย I didn’t even enjoy.

โ€œEating Large Portionsย – After being either pregnant or breast feeding for over three years, it was hard to shake the idea that I was eating for two.ย  Now I KNOW eating for two does not mean double the calorie intake (sob) but I my portion size just slowly got larger.

โ€œIย read all aboutย it beingย ‘only an extra X amount of extra calories’ but when I was pregnant I was hungry.ย  And when I was breastfeeding I was hungry.ย  And I had things to worry about aside from weighing out my chicken breasts and salad portions.

โ€œSmaller treatsย – I haven’t entirely given up sweet treats but when I am feeling ย ‘stuck in a sugar cycle’ the Slimpods help me to re-calibrate.

โ€œI am a runner!ย – two years ย ago I would have told you that I wasn’t ‘built’ for running and I would only run if I was being chased.ย  However, a few weeks into my Slimpod listening, much to my own surprise, I decided to join a local woman’s running group.

โ€œAfter a 12 week walk to run programme, I wasย shocked to find how much I enjoy running and what a great stress relief it has been for me.ย Eighteen months later running is still an important part of my life.

โ€œI have made some great friends, I feel healthier and it feels really good that my kids think of me as a ‘runner’!โ€
