BLOGGER Erin Ek Rush is noticing remarkable differences in her smaller portion sizes and her relationship with food as she enjoys her Slimpod programme. “One of the first things I noticed about the Slimpod was that my portion size shrunk instantly and effortlessly,” she says. “I remember thinking to myself, ‘maybe this is what ‘naturally’ slim people feel like all of the time’.” Erin, who was born in the United States but now lives in West Yorkshire where she writes the Yorkshire Tots blog, started as a 12/14 and is now a 10/12 and happy!
This is her story, which I’m sure will inspire many of you, especially if you dream of smaller portion sizes.
“After I had my second baby in December of 2012 I slowly and steadily lost 9 kilos but then my weight stalled – for months and then a few more months. I remember thinking to myself, ‘my body would be pretty comfortable staying here.’
“The problem was that ‘here’ was almost 10 and a half stone and I am only 5 feet tall. I was in size 12/14 jeans and my requirement for tops was that they hid my tummy.
“Although I would generally consider myself a healthy eater, I love to eat and have always had to ‘watch my weight.’ I had also picked up some bad habits since becoming a mum including:
“More of a Sweet Tooth – as a stay at home mum I found that there were so many more opportunities for biscuits, chocolate buttons and general treats throughout the day.
“More Grab and Go Meals – eating on the run led to unintentionally overeating and grabbing things I didn’t even like (cold fish sticks!) – nothing worse than calories I didn’t even enjoy.
“Eating Large Portions – After being either pregnant or breast feeding for over three years, it was hard to shake the idea that I was eating for two. Now I KNOW eating for two does not mean double the calorie intake (sob) but I my portion size just slowly got larger.
“I read all about it being ‘only an extra X amount of extra calories’ but when I was pregnant I was hungry. And when I was breastfeeding I was hungry. And I had things to worry about aside from weighing out my chicken breasts and salad portions.
“I saw some excellent results with my Slimpod – not just in terms of weight loss and inches shed (I have stayed a size smaller and feel much healthier) but also in what I know will be permanent changes to the way I eat food and exercise.
“Smaller portion sizes – one of the first things I noticed about my Slimpod was that my portion size shrunk instantly and effortlessly. I remember thinking to myself, ‘maybe this is what ‘naturally’ slim people feel like all of the time.’
“I stop eating before I am full – a few weeks back my husband made a really delicious coconut curry. I thought to myself ‘you’ve had enough’ but I went for more anyway. When I stood up I realised that I was too full. I also realised how long it had been since I had felt like that. I had to ‘override’ my system to eat that much rather than doing it by accident.
“Smaller treats – I haven’t entirely given up sweet treats but when I am feeling ‘stuck in a sugar cycle’ the Slimpods help me to re-calibrate.
“I am a runner! – two years ago I would have told you that I wasn’t ‘built’ for running and I would only run if I was being chased. However, a few weeks into my Slimpod listening, much to my own surprise, I decided to join a local woman’s running group.
“After a 12 week walk to run programme, I was shocked to find how much I enjoy running and what a great stress relief it has been for me. Eighteen months later running is still an important part of my life.
“I have made some great friends, I feel healthier and it feels really good that my kids think of me as a ‘runner’!”
So if you really want smaller portion sizes it looks like you need a Slimpod!
