It’s time to celebrate one of our nominated Podders and shine a light on the difference they make in our incredible community.
This month, we’re celebrating wonderful Harriet.
Harriet is always there sharing her wins, her recipes and her encouragement. She comments on other people’s posts, cheers them on and helps make the community a welcoming space.
When you’re changing your relationship with food, community can make all the difference. Having people around you who understand the wobbles, celebrate the wins and remind you that progress doesn’t have to be perfect can be so powerful.
If you’re not in the new community yet, I’d really encourage you to come and join us. It’s more engaged and supportive than ever before, and it’s full of Podders helping each other every step of the way.
Harriet recently shared a post that really stood out.
She wrote about recovering from an injury and how hard it felt because she’d built such a strong routine. When healthy habits become part of your life, being forced to slow down can feel unsettling.
Harriet noticed the thoughts coming up. She was conscious of not eating more, while also reminding herself that her metabolism wasn’t suddenly going to change overnight and that recovery needs fuel too.
That is such a powerful moment of awareness.
So many people, especially after years of dieting, can panic when routine changes. An injury, illness, holiday, stressful week or family event can bring up old fears around losing control.
Instead of panicking, Harriet listened to her body and chose self-kindness.
Harriet’s message to podders!
“Hi, I’m Harriet, and honestly the biggest change for me since starting Slimpod has been in my head, not my wardrobe. I joined because I was tired of thinking about food all the time — the noise, the guilt, the rules. I just wanted some peace and a bit of myself back.
What surprised me most is how quickly the mental shifts started happening. I stopped overthinking every meal, stopped having that “should I/shouldn’t I” battle, and started trusting myself again. It’s like someone turned the volume down in my brain.
And the best part? I’ve genuinely fallen back in love with food. Not in a chaotic way — in a calm, joyful, “this tastes good and I’m allowed to enjoy it” way. Food isn’t the enemy anymore. It’s just… food. That freedom has spilled into everything else: my routines, my energy, my confidence.
Walking rugby has become one of my favourite things — it’s fun, it’s social, and it reminds me that movement can be something you look forward to, not something you punish yourself with. I’ve met brilliant people through it, and it’s one of those moments where I think, “Yep, this is the life I wanted.”
If I could tell a new Slimpodder one thing, it’s this: don’t chase perfection. Notice the tiny wins, the quiet shifts, the moments where you feel a bit lighter in your mind. That’s where the magic is.”
Final takeaway
Listen to your body when life changes. If you’re recovering, tired or having a different kind of week, your body may need care rather than pressure.
Let flexibility be part of your success. Healthy habits are far more powerful when they can fit into real life.
And please use the community. Share your wins. Ask for help. Cheer someone else on. Your words may be exactly what another Podder needs that day.
Harriet, thank you for being such a thoughtful, positive and encouraging part of our community.
Please join me in giving Harriet a huge congratulations as our June Podder of the Month. And vote for next month’s podder of the month here!
