One of the things I’ve noticed most during nearly 10 years of helping people lose weight is how a lot of them panic when I ask them to set goals. Last week was no exception. Posting a picture and setting goals sent shockwaves through some of the Slimpod community!
In my blog last week I said this six-week Boot Camp is as much about helping you to overcome what’s been holding you back as it is about helping you to move forward.
For so many people it’s their own mind that’s been holding them back – because they have a fear of failure. So that’s what we’re tackling this week! Watch my video first and beneath the video there’s some more practical advice to help you overcome your fears.
Ease the stress of emotional eating
STRESS and emotional eating have an extraordinary effect on our food habits, and emotional eating brought on by anxiety is a major reason why more and more people are overweight. The more pressurised life becomes, the more people turn to food in a vain attempt

Thank you I was feeling scared I won’t manage to lose weight but now I will not let it stop me I’m determined to do this for me
Well done Sally!
Excellent video –
Thanks Mary!
This definitely describes me over the many years. I found this blog very helpful. I will be listening to this over and over.
Do It Mary!
Thank you for this video I’m really struggling at the moment , it was the incentive I needed .
FAB!
Very good advice. Be strong.
Go for it Mary!
I can really relate to this. I’ve been back on my Slimpod and doing it properly for 4 wks (i.e. Writing positives daily – -having done it 3 times in the past but only once properly – of course that time I lost weight). After 3wks I’d lost 2 inches from my waist, 2 inches from my stomach and an inch from my thighs – but then I started worrying if that’s it now, will I be able to lose more. I’m still listening at least once a day and trying to stay resolute – I reset some of my goals last week and one of them is now “I am prepared to succeed”.
Thanks Sandra, I never post any comments but I do appreciate all the videos xx
Great stuff Tanya. Relax and it will happen!
I need to face my fears and not expect failure as I know it is holding me back. Any help on this would be much appreciated.
Get the book Carole and then take action! You can do it!
Thank you for this Vidio I’m definitely going to conquer my fear it’s held me back all my life
Great news – go for it!
Thank you Sandra, really useful and it explains a lot about my life – not just struggling to lose weight.
Yep – usually affects more than weight loss. Glad it helped.
Thank you Sandra. Very inspiring.
Welcome!
Have just watched video and I agree that fear does hold me back , but today I tried on a dress a size smaller than I am and it fit and looked lovely I am now determined to keep going because there are still a few little niggles to iron out thank you again for this boot camp it is really helping
Fabulous Sarah! Well done you!
Your comments resonated with me and I found the PDF very interesting so have ordered the book to read and inwardly digest (no calories!)
Great stuff Eva!
Thanks Sandra – is fear the same as self sabotage? I don’t think I feel fear, I’m not normally a fearful person, but I do think ‘I wont lose weight anyway’ so when I don’t lose weight, I don’t feel such an idiot. Which is also why I never told anyone I was trying to lose weight until they mentioned it – Does that make sense?
If that is fear then hopefully the book and your advice will help me get over this as I really do want to lose inches
Hi Pat, I think that can still be classed as a fear because your unconscious is protecting you against the feeling of failure. You’re also creating your future and by saying you won’t succeed it’s’ a self fulfilling prophecy. I’ll be putting up a blog about self sabotage in this bootcamp series.
This is a really great book, thank you for the link!
You’re welcome Debbie!
