From Size 18 to Size 8: How Changing Her Mindset Helped Angela Lose 4 Stone Naturally

Losing weight isn’t always about counting calories or following restrictive diets. For Angela, the real transformation happened when she changed her relationship with food. In just 11 months, she went from a size 18 to a size 8, lost an incredible 4 stone 10 pounds, and, most importantly, found lasting happiness.

In this inspiring podcast episode, Angela shares how Slimpod helped her overcome emotional eating, silence constant food cravings, and build healthy habits that have transformed every area of her life.

Listen to Angela’s full story below!

Breaking Free from Emotional Eating

Before starting her journey, Angela describes how food controlled much of her life. Sweet treats were a reward when life was good and comfort when life became difficult.

Like many people, she found herself eating without thinking. One evening, after finishing almost an entire tin of sweets, she realised something had to change.

Rather than starting another restrictive diet, Angela discovered Slimpod and decided to give it a try. That decision became the beginning of a completely different way of thinking about food.

The End of Food Noise

One of the biggest changes Angela experienced was the disappearance of “food noise.”

Previously, her mind constantly wandered to food. She would think about unfinished packets of biscuits, snacks in the fridge, or what she could eat while waiting for the kettle to boil.

Today, those thoughts have almost completely disappeared. Instead of automatically reaching for sugary snacks, Angela naturally chooses foods like grapes and berries when she’s hungry. Grocery shopping has also become easier, as she no longer feels drawn to the aisles filled with sweets and crisps.

Choosing Real Food Instead of Processed Foods

Angela says one of the biggest lessons she learned was understanding the difference between processed foods and whole foods.

Previously, she believed low-fat products were healthier. She later discovered that many low-fat options are packed with added sugar to improve their taste.

Angela has stopped obsessing over calories, and just chooses foods that nourish her body.

Now, her diet focuses on simple, natural foods:

  • Fruit and vegetables
  • Meat, fish and poultry
  • Real butter instead of processed spreads
  • Foods with minimal additives
Exercise Became Something She Enjoys

Before losing weight, Angela hated exercise, but now, movement has become part of her daily routine.

She enjoys cycling on her exercise bike while listening to her favourite music, and often follows that with upper-body exercises, stretching, and a little yoga before bed.

The key difference is that she is no longer using exercise as a punishment for eating, it is something she does because it makes her feel good.

Better Sleep, Better Health and More Confidence

Angela also noticed improvements in her life that went beyond the number on the scales.

She now sleeps through the night after years of poor sleep. Headaches have disappeared, digestive problems have improved, and she rarely gets ill.

The biggest transformation though has been to her confidence.

Instead of worrying about how she looks or hiding behind oversized clothes, she now enjoys getting dressed and feels comfortable in her own skin. Angela now describes herself as genuinely happy, which is a feeling she hadn’t experienced for years.

No More Guilt Around Food

Angela used to label foods as “good” or “bad.” If she ate something indulgent, she felt guilty and that often spiralled into overeating.

Now, that guilt has disappeared. If she chooses to enjoy a latte and a scone, she enjoys them without feeling like she has failed because she knows her everyday eating habits are healthy, and occasionally choosing something different won’t derail her progress.

This balanced approach has allowed her to maintain her weight without feeling restricted.

Angela’s top tips for success

Angela now sees healthy eating as just part of her everyday life. She no longer counts calories or worries about what she can and can’t eat. Her lifestyle feels natural, enjoyable, and easy to maintain.

Angela’s advice to anyone struggling with weight loss is simple: keep going, stay positive, and focus on reducing processed foods. Small changes made consistently can create life-changing results.
