Every month, we celebrate a Slimpodder who uplifts, inspires, and embodies the spirit of transformation. This month, that person is Laura.
It has been an absolute pleasure watching Laura’s story unfold in our private group, it is proof that when we stop fighting ourselves and start working with our minds and bodies, extraordinary things happen.
A Year of Transformation
Just twelve months ago, Laura felt stuck. Her world was getting smaller, and her confidence slipping away. Like many who come to Slimpod, she had tried everything—and nothing worked long-term.
And now?
✔️ She’s calmer and happier
✔️ She moves with ease and joy
✔️ She faces life’s challenges differently
✔️ She’s living life on her terms
✔️ She just walked a marathon

“I Thought I’d Failed…”
Not long ago, Laura set off on a 15-mile training walk around Glasgow. A walk she wanted to do—a far cry from a year ago, when walking a single mile left her breathless.
But halfway through, her hip began to ache.
That old voice returned:
❌ “You’ve failed.”
❌ “You’ve let yourself down.”
❌ “You should stop now.”
We all know that voice. But this time, Laura paused… and chose differently.
✔️ “Listening to my body isn’t failure—it’s self-care.”
✔️ “Seven miles is an achievement.”
✔️ “I’ll walk to the next bus stop and see.”
She passed that bus stop. And the next. Ten more miles.
That’s what happens when mindset shifts. That’s the Slimpod difference. No rules. No willpower. Just grace, trust, and self-compassion.
A Moment of Beauty
On her final big walk before the Moonwalk—a 20-mile trek—Laura stopped into her favourite museum. At mile 14, she was tired, but still smiling. Still moving forward.
Then she saw it. A painting she’s always loved. But this time, something shifted.
“I looked at her,” Laura said, “and thought about how Slimpod has freed me from the self-limiting behaviours that held me back for so long.”
In that moment, she realised she wasn’t just walking. She was dancing through her life.

And Then… She Walked a Marathon
She did it. A full marathon, side by side with fellow Podders. Not driven by punishment or fear—but by joy.
Laura, who once struggled to walk a mile, walked 26.2 of them. And loved it.
Lessons from Laura
These are the truths she’s discovered—truths we hope every Slimpodder hears loud and clear:
📌 Weight loss is just part of the story
She’s lost weight—but more importantly, she’s gained freedom, joy, and confidence.
📌 Happiness isn’t a clothing size
At size 18, Laura is more vibrant and fulfilled than she’s ever been. “The pursuit of thinness made me miserable. Letting go made me happy.”
📌 Self-talk is everything
Now, when old habits show up, she gently tells herself, “We don’t do that anymore.” That’s how change sticks.
📌 Food isn’t the enemy
What was once obsession is now passion. She enjoys food with balance and without guilt.
📌 You are not your diet rules
There’s no more all-or-nothing thinking. Food no longer defines her worth. She’s in charge now.
Laura, thank you for being a light in our group and showing what’s possible when we trust ourselves.

You are an inspiration Laura! Your story shows that life is indeed a Marathon. Not a sprint.
Laura is an inspiration! it’s lovely to hear how comfortable she is, in her own skin and how kind she is to herself.
I walked the Moonwalk with Laura (Mitzi) and several other Podders. My first 26.2 miles encouraged by Laura with her positivity and endless smiles and joy.
I know I wouldn’t have completed it without Laura’s practical encouragement and tips both before and during the Moonwalk. Well done Laura for all your positive achievements. Darrell
I’m so grateful that you were there, and I’m so proud of you for doing it! You’re a real inspiration
