Podder of the month: Helen!

These blogs are always my favourite part of the Newsletter—because they capture what makes our community so special. It’s not just about weight loss or habit change. It’s about the people. The stories. The small, powerful reminders that we’re never doing this alone.

And this month, we’re celebrating Helen—a true light in our Slimpod family.

There’s a calmness in her words. A kindness in her presence. And a depth of wisdom that seems to land just when it’s needed most. Whether she’s gently reminding us to speak to ourselves with compassion or sharing the real-life wobbles of staying mindful on holiday, Helen makes space for honesty. She has a way of wrapping her truth in tenderness, helping us feel seen, understood, and safe.

Helen reminds us that being kind to ourselves isn’t a luxury—it’s essential. Especially when emotional eating has been a coping mechanism for so long.

Unfortunately, many of us know what it’s like to turn to food not out of hunger, but out of habit. Or loneliness. Or sheer exhaustion. And Helen’s journey is such a powerful example of what can happen when we begin to pause. To listen inwards. To make a different choice—not because we should, but because we can.

I especially loved the story she shared about the dress. A beautiful visual metaphor for how far she’s come—not just physically, but emotionally. She wrote:

The photo on the left was last year on my birthday, and the one on the right is the same dress now, two sizes smaller.   When I bought the first one I didn’t feel OK about how I looked in anything.
Now, after the weight loss, I’ve decided this dress is not the right style for me and I can do better. So I’m going to return the new one.”

It’s such a simple moment, and yet it speaks volumes. She’s no longer just fitting into clothes—she’s choosing them. With confidence. With care. With self-worth. That quiet, grounded self-belief is the real transformation.

She summed it up beautifully:

“Getting where I’m at today took a while and is worth every choice I made to wait until hungry to eat, stop when gently full, and replace emotional eating with something else.
It’s the best birthday present I could have given myself!”

And beyond her  words, the changes Helen is seeing are nothing short of inspiring:

✅ Eating mindfully, even through jet lag and travel
✅ Dropped two dress sizes
✅ Letting go of old habits with ease—not willpower
✅ Feeling comfortable and confident in her body
✅ Choosing presence over perfection
✅ Rediscovering joy in clothes and compliments
✅ Supporting others with wisdom and warmth

Helen, we’re so grateful for your voice, your raw honesty and your light. You show us that this journey isn’t about chasing perfection—it’s about meeting ourselves with gentleness, curiosity, and trust. And that’s what real freedom looks like.

We’re lucky to have you in this community 💛
