I was absolutely delighted to meet Frances at a talk about my book, The Weight’s Over Take Back Control. Frances stood up during the Q&A section of my event and told me that she’d been a podder for over 10 years and had kept the weight off.
Even though I’ve been doing this for over 15 years now, meeting Slimpodders is still so inspiring and emotional for me.
Each time I get the privilege of meeting a Slimpodder, I’m reminded of how different this journey looks for each person, and how many ways that Slimpod can transform lives.
Frances’ journey inspired me so much, as did her bravery at standing up at my book event to share her journey with me, so I wanted to share it with you all too.
A journey that started with pain
When Frances started Slimpod, it wasn’t just about weight. It was about something much deeper — a lifetime of emotional pain, trauma, and a fractured relationship with food that began in childhood.
“When your parents are cruel, you don’t actually fall out of love with them, you fall out of love with yourself.”
Slimpod helped her begin to rewrite that story. Not overnight. Not with a goal weight or a quick fix. But with consistent choices.
“I didn’t lose weight straight away. But what it started to do was programme me to make better choices.”
It helped her create a new relationship with food, with her body, and most importantly — with herself.
More than a number on the scales
Frances is now in her early 60s and radiates strength, self-awareness and compassion. She’s kept the weight off for a decade! But what’s even more powerful is the confidence and peace she’s built from the inside out.
“I dress the way I want to dress. But more than that, my internal world is strong and confident. I turn up as myself now.”
Her transformation isn’t just physical. It’s emotional. And she’s proof that when you invest in yourself you’re choosing to say “I’m worth it.”
“Even if you think it’s not working — just do it. It is.”
Bring someone with you this November
Frances reminds us that we don’t have to do this alone. In fact, she now shares Slimpod with friends — and that’s something we’re making even easier for you to do this month.
If Slimpod has helped you and you’d love to support someone else’s journey, here’s how you can bring a friend along:
👭 Friend Referral Offer
- You get £15
- Your friend gets 15% off
- We donate 15% to charity
It’s a small way to pass on the support — and it makes a real difference.
Final word from Frances
“Just turn up for yourself. Make the commitment. Keep choosing to show up. You are worth it.”
And she’s right. Whether you’re 10 days in or 10 years in — this journey is yours. Keep going. You never know where it will lead.
