HERE’S a brilliant way to get fit that works superbly with a Fitpod. Zumba has taken the world by storm since it was first developed in Colombia by accident, when creator Beto Perez forgot to bring the right tape to an aerobics class he was teaching. Instead he had to use the only cassette he had – which was salsa.
Listening to a Fitpod for just 10 minutes a day gently retunes your mind to give you the motivation to move your body more. You’ll be surprised how effortless it becomes to want to take up the exercise you know you’ll enjoy and which will be so good for you.
Fitpod user Jackie Newman says: “I’m amazed at the difference in myself. I was a real couch potato, any excuse not to walk, even to walk the dog. As soon as I started listening it made me walk more. The best part of it is that I loved it. I walked with my head held high and a smile on my face.”
Most people describe Zumba as like no other workout they’ve ever done before because you don’t work into an aerobic routine but simply just join in the dancing. Of course dancing is a term I use liberally, you don’t need to be good at it at all to join in a Zumba class; you’ll get the hang of it really quickly – whatever your ability
The classes aren’t like a workout session, but just like an hour of having a good time, you’ll see loads of people joining in of all age ranges; but on average you’ll burn over 350 calories in an hour. Essential kit includes gear that you can easily move in, and that you won’t get too hot in (you’re going to be moving…a lot), also, take a bottle of water and it’s probably good idea to pack a towel in your bag too
You can also get fit with Zumba at home. On YouTube do a search for Love Zumba and you’ll find the Zumba Channel, with dozens of videos you can dance along to. You can buy Zumba DVDs on Amazon – search for Zumba Fitness Exhilarate. And there’s some great XBox available if you have an XBox Kinect. The Fitpod is the ideal accompaniment to all of those Zumba at home programmes.
