I’d Lost Weight Before — But Never Like This

“I’d Lost Weight Before — But Never Like This”

Lyn had lost weight before. Like many of us, she was no stranger to diets. Slimming clubs had worked — until it didn’t. The weight came back, and with it came pain, shame, and that constant internal battle of trying to be “good.”

But Slimpod was different. “It wasn’t just about weight,” she explained. “It was about feeling better — and that started almost immediately.”

The first thing she noticed was her food choices shifting — not by force, but by instinct. She found herself reaching for hummus and nuts instead of cakes. Tomatoes, once repulsive to her, suddenly seemed appealing. Even her family started eating differently — all without rules or restrictions.

Now you can listen to Lyn’s story in her own words

“I Never Took the Tablets”

Lyn’s knees were in such poor condition, her GP referred her for scans. The diagnosis was osteoarthritis. She was prescribed painkillers — and the tablets are still unopened in the cupboard.

“I never needed them,” she says simply.

Why? Because as her body grew stronger, her pain faded. As her inflammation reduced, her confidence returned. And as her Slimpod journey deepened, something extraordinary began to unfold.

She moved more.

“I Started with One Flight of Stairs… Now I’ve Got a Personal Trainer”

Lyn didn’t wait until she hit her goal weight to start moving. In fact, she started before most of the weight came off.

At first, it was simple things. She chose to go upstairs instead of using the downstairs loo. She cleaned out cupboards, moved around more during the day. She joined one of the Slimpod community stair challenges, aiming to “climb the Eiffel Tower” one step at a time.

She did more than that. She fell in love with movement.

Now, she sees a personal trainer regularly. She lifts weights. She does squats. She even books gym sessions on cruise holidays because she wants to. Eighteen months ago, she wouldn’t have believed any of this was possible.

“I Don’t Exercise for Points Anymore”

Back when Lyn was dieting, exercise was a transaction. “ I did Zumba, which I enjoyed but part of the reason was I got more points — so I could eat more.” But now?

“I move because it feels good. I do it because I want to. I miss it when I don’t.”

Even when a long-standing back issue flared up recently, she noticed the difference. Instead of collapsing into old habits, she paused, rested — and came back gently.

This isn’t punishment anymore. It’s self-care.

“I Eat Later, I Eat Less, I Eat Better — Without Trying”

Like so many Slimpodders, Lyn noticed that her patterns changed without effort.

“I was raised on the idea that breakfast was the most important meal of the day. But now? I naturally don’t eat until lunch. I don’t force it. I’m not hungry in the morning, and I trust that.”

Her lunches are light and varied — sometimes salad, sometimes peanut butter and apple, sometimes just a sandwich. Dinner is often stir fry or chicken. She still enjoys sweet things, but even that’s changed. “I used to love marmalade. Now it’s too sweet.”

She hasn’t given anything up. She’s just changed — gently, sustainably, and without fear.

What Lyn Wants You to Know

If you’re at the beginning of your journey — or stuck in the middle — Lyn’s story offers so much hope. Here’s what she wants you to take away:

  1. Don’t wait to feel better before you start moving.
Movement doesn’t have to be extreme. Going up the stairs counts. Tidying a cupboard counts. Find what feels good and do more of it.
  2. Ditch the scales and the shame.
Lyn stopped weighing herself months ago. “My clothes fit. I feel good. That’s what matters.”
  3. Let Slimpod work with your brain, not against it.
The biggest changes often happen when we stop fighting ourselves. “I still listen to Trevor every day,” she says. “I still write down my wins. And I still love it.”

Final Words

Lyn’s story isn’t just about losing over four stone. It’s about reclaiming her life. Her stairs. Her strength. Her confidence.

Eighteen months ago, she was considering moving house because she couldn’t get to her bedroom safely. Now? She runs up those stairs — and has to pinch herself sometimes just to believe it.

“I’ve become a completely different person,” she says. “And I love who I am now.”
